Lammas, which I reflected on in a recent post, can be considered the height of Leo season. Leo reigns from July 22-August 22nd and is the fixed sign in the trio of Fire signs. The fierce lion is the symbol of Leo, which was chosen due to the shape of its constellation.
Leo energy is very much aligned with the mantra "I will" and can be considered the "Fire of the Heart" (Hickey). In terms of the physical body, Leo governs over the heart, spine, and back. The 5th house of the zodiac is led by Leo, which emphasizes Leo's guidance over the emotional and spiritual aspect of the heart as well.
The 5th house presides over the realm of creativity, pleasure, and risk taking. It highlights the ways in which you like to have fun! As an extension of creativity, the 5th house also relates to children (the parents relationship with the child) and our inner child.
Leo and the 5th house are also linked with The Sun, which I reviewed in the Aries post. Sun energy represents our core essence of our self. So Leo is a very self-assured and bright! Below are a range of traits Leo can manifest:
Creative, self-expressive
Organized, self-reliant
Charismatic, enthusiastic
Vibrant, confident
Playful, energetic
Loyal, dedicated
Brave, courageous
Generous, kind, warm
Pompous/arrogant
Bossy, stubborn
Dogmatic
Strong Ego
Spontaneous
Assertive, aggressive
Sensitive
Leos have a great need to be admired by others and have their self-expression be witnessed and enjoyed by others. They are extroverted and can become vulnerable to the needs and wants of others to gain the attention and love they seek. However on the flip side, they can be very confident in themselves and self reliant.
I don't have much Leo presence in my chart, but my south node falls in Leo territory. Everyone has a north and south node, which are where the moon and sun cross paths creating two opposite points in the chart. Since my south node is in Leo, my north node is in Aquarius.
The nodes in general represent cycles in our lives, with the south node representing patterns and behaviors we have developed early in life. These patterns are almost like our default settings that we take for granted and can always rely on. However, that doesn't mean they are always positive.
So for me, with a south node in Leo, I feel I have a tendency to give my energy to others and worry about the impression I make. But I feel like I also have the tendency to be very self-reliant and not share burdens or authority with others. I'd rather handle things myself. On the positive side, creativity appears to be a solid foundation I return to.
My south node in Leo is in my 12th house, meaning:
"past-life experiences were related to spirituality, solitude, and the subconscious mind, often characterized by a need for recognition in your spiritual pursuits. In this lifetime, the challenge is to move beyond ego-driven spirituality and explore a more compassionate, selfless approach to inner exploration and spiritual growth." https://medium.com/@HermesAstrology/south-node-in-leo-how-the-placement-in-each-house-influences-you-49bd4675d785
Lately, I have been very self-aware of how sharing my personal explorations can be received by others. I do not want to come across as self-centered. I hope these musing can be an example of how intricate astrology can be when you put all the pieces together.
Sometimes, I think I should just give up. Why would others care about reading my blog? My Cafe Astrology report also shares that this placement can have a tendency to give up when things get stressful in the creative process. I see the blog as a creative outlet for myself, but I can get bogged down when thinking about how this can serve others. I must not give up. Sometimes I feel having the blog and an "audience" keeps me accountable in continuing my journey. I deserve to be witnessed. I want to be a witness to others as well.
Please let me know if you find my personal accounts helpful! Where does the confidence of Leo come into play in your life?
